About
Anna Lan joins the AisleTalk internship training program in her final year of graduate studies as a Master of Arts candidate in Baruch College's Mental Health Counseling program.
In working with clients, Anna aims to provide an open, inviting, and inclusive environment and overall approach towards mental health. Anna helps individuals to embrace their emotional wellness through advocacy and viewing the client as a part of a larger societal ecosystem, viewing each person as informed by unique sets of expectations, societal roles, support systems, cultural background and interpersonal experiences. Taking all these factors into account, Anna works with clients to build lasting self-worth and self-acceptance as a part of the therapeutic journey.
Anna believes that therapy provides a space to unravel the complicated layers of life that serves as the key to building resiliency and self-empowerment. The foundation of her approach is a person-centered lens, which further integrates elements of cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and psychodynamic therapy in order to best serve each individual client.
It is Anna's personal belief that one's identity, encompassing family background, upbringing and values, is foundational to the therapeutic process. She is passionate about helping clients further develop their personal identity as a part of their therapy journey.
Additional clinical interests for Anna include alleviating the stigma towards mental health, particularly within the immigrant and Asian communities and she is passionate about working with clients from different cultural backgrounds.
