About

Farzana is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York State. She pursued her master’s degree in mental health counseling from Fordham University. She is passionate about working with the unique mental health concerns endured by communities of color, particularly navigating through depression, anxiety, identity-related stressors, and adverse childhood experiences. As a therapist, she strives to create a space that is warm, accepting, and trauma-informed for all clients.

Farzana is fascinated by how our family relationships can impact other relationships, our sense of self, and our place in the world. She makes an effort to explore how early childhood experiences have impacted interpersonal relationships and how our identities have been shaped by our environments. Farzana’s unique, yet collective experiences, as a child of immigrant parents and as a South Asian woman of color, provide her with the ability to recognize why family and cultures are so important in the therapeutic work and especially during the time of wedding planning.

Farzana integrates techniques from psychodynamic therapy, multicultural counseling, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy alongside an attachment-focused lens. Additionally, she has received training in the Gottman Method Level One and is a certified PREPARE/ENRICH premarital and marital counselor for couples.

Farzana is a trusted therapist and community member of TherapyDen and VirtueMental.org
